Welcome

Welcome to Scottsdale Community College!

Art DecabooterA Message from Dr. Art DeCabooter

It was in the fall of 1970 when Scottsdale Community College first opened its doors to serve the educational needs of a small growing community. More than thirty-five years ago, 948 students enrolled in our first classes. Today, as we continue to offer educational excellence and service to our communities, SCC welcomes nearly 12,000 students in credit programs and another 5,800 continuing education students each fall.

SCC has a great academic tradition and our students have an outstanding history of achievement. Our reputation is based on a rich heritage of collegial excellence. As our world evolves, so have our programs and our methods of delivery. Classroom instruction is now complemented by on-line and hybrid (a combination of in-person and internet) instruction and computers are as prevalent as books.

While SCC continues to provide excellent undergraduate education in foundational courses we have also grown to meet the needs of our workforce through innovative and highly respected occupational programs. Our students are further supported by an array of services designed to help them reach their goals. Yet the backbone of what we do lies with the committed and highly qualified individuals in our classrooms and offices.

As we reflect on the past and anticipate the future, we remain thankful and intensely committed to our communities -- the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community for allowing us to reside in this beautiful and peaceful setting, the City of Scottsdale from which we take our name, the people of Maricopa County which provide the financial support we need to affordably offer courses and programs to our citizenry, and to all the families whose lives are enriched through the teaching and learning opportunities at SCC.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about SCC… you are always welcome on our campus. We encourage you to pursue your academic goals and personal interests as we are dedicated to helping you Learn, Grow, and Achieve.
